The Stark County Bicentennial will hold a Third Grade History Fair as one of the events to commemorate Stark County’s 200th anniversary. Our objective is to partner with all of the third grade teachers and classes in the Stark County school districts. We hope that we can create this as a project-based event within each class room. The rules are rather simple and easily accomplished.
- Each school and each district can submit as many projects as they wish.
- Projects may be submitted by individual students, groups of students, or classrooms.
- The project should identify a person, event, or industry from within your school district that has influenced Stark County, the state, the country, or the world.
- The projects can be from any time period.
- The project must fit on a tri-fold board no larger than 6 feet long and 3 feet high. The table top of the tables used in the exhibit may also be utilized.
- The project may include any three of the following media:
- Photography
- Written word (including graphs & charts)
- Videography
- Painting/Drawings
- 3 dimensional displays
- Music
- In addition to the media, the entrants must present a paper of 250 words or less on the reasoning why they selected the subject they selected and how they feel the subject influenced society.
- All projects will be judged on:
- Presentation
- Clarity of project
- Relevance to your school district
- Completeness
- Historical accuracy
- Preliminary judging will be under the control of the Stark County Bicentennial History Fair Committee.
- The top 10 entrants will be selected from all entries.
- The Stark County Bicentennial History Fair Committee will then arrange to have a videographer “interview” the 10 entrants to create a short presentation. All questions will be standardized for all entries and will be furnished to the classroom teacher prior to the videotaping.
- The Stark County Bicentennial History Fair will be held on March 28, 2009 at Stark Parks “Exploration Gateway” at Sippo Lake.
- The day of the Stark County Bicentennial Third Grade History Fair a panel of judges will view each of the 10 entrants and select first, second and third place winners. A cash prize will be awarded to the schools of the first, second and third place entries.
- While the judges are deliberating, the video presentation of all 10 entries will be shown.
- All projects must be submitted by February 6, 2009 to:
